Session

The art and pains of explaining JavaScript

In this session I will explain what kind of barriers we are facing when it comes to teaching and understanding JavaScript as a technology for the web. I've been constantly confused by how hard we make it for ourselves when it comes to making people use our scripts and APIs. We don't have to make the same mistakes we did in the past, yet there seems to be a drive to do so.

Bio

Christian Heilmann was born in Germany and started as a "Web Designer" around 1997. Since then he's worked with several agencies, dotcoms and currently works for Yahoo! as a frontend architect, trainer and general the guy to go to when it comes to making developers happy and work more efficient. According to him it is high time we start turning web development from a niche skill to a mainstream technology ready for big teams and distributed development. Only then we will get the respect we deserve.
